The Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) has ruled that faculty in Ontario’s 24 community colleges will vote on the employer’s offer on February 10, 2010. Today, OPSEU has announced that it will delay the strike deadline until February 17, 2010.

Faculty to decide on enhanced salary and workload protections
A favourable result will ensure a full collective agreement
College faculty will have the opportunity to vote on the colleges’ final offer. The colleges have asked the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) to begin preparations for a final offer vote at all 24 colleges. The date of the final offer vote will be determined by the OLRB and communicated as soon as it is available.
The request to the OLRB follows OPSEU’s decision to set a strike date for February 11 and its refusal to allow the faculty to vote on the colleges’ proposed collective agreement.
The vote will ask college faculty to accept or reject the colleges’ final offer.

OPSEU has set a strike deadline of February 11, 2010 for both sides to reach a new collective agreement. The union has also proposed that the parties can go to binding arbitration to resolve the rest of their issues on the table and avoid a strike.
If a new agreement is not reached or both sides haven’t entered into binding arbitration by Midnight on the 10th of February, all 10,000 full-time academic staff will be on strike.

The sold out Classified event on Thursday, January 28th at the Shark Tank Pub makes it the third event to sell out in a row for the Winter Semester!
Welcome Back Pub on Thursday, January 14th was the first sold out event of the semester. XXX Hypnotist Tony Lee on Thursday, January 21 was the second sold out event. Also, Classified's event was the 10th event to sell out during the 09/10 year.

Improved Shark Tank Pub Access On Thursday Nights

Residence Students coming to the Shark Tank Pub on Thursday nights during the winter can now access the 1st Floor Doors in the Architecture Wing until midnight.
