2004

Opened a new state-of-the-art 4,800 square foot Student Access Lab.

Prior to that, Student Government transformed two former classrooms into a computer lab in November 1997. This computer lab was expanded in 2000-01 to provide students with more access to computers.

Further technology enhancements have been made for students:

  • 2006-07: Initiated the expansion of wireless in various seating areas.

  • 2008-09: Initiated the installation of wireless in the Pioneer Building.

  • 2011-12: Opened a Student Access Lab in the Pioneer Building.

 

2014

Reopened the Student Access Lab after replacing the flooring, updating furnishings and refreshing the décor and lighting.

New services were launched including a Special Recycling Collection Station for batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges/toner and writing tools as well as a wireless printing option for students.

Additional technology enhancements have been made:

  • 2015-16: Launched Free Student Technical Support (link to page) program in partnership with Information Technology Services to assist students with setting up devices with College email, providing support in the Student Access Lab for password resets, login issues, general questions, etc. and providing an appointment booking system for getting help with a more technical problem.

  • 2017-18: Introduced After Hours Tech Support to provide students with basic technical assistance on nights and weekends.

 

2016

Renamed the Student Access Lab.

The Maureen Piercy Student Access Lab in recognition of past College President, Maureen Piercy being an excellent advocate for Loyalist programs and services and a champion of Loyalist students and staff.

2024

Advocated for a printer in the Link Lounge

A new printer was installed in the Link Lounge in January to make it more convenient for students to print documents.
